Q-Bert @ Melt: Sat 13 May, 2006

After a sell out Metro show last Staurday, legendary turntabilist Qbert (USA) will be playing a one off party set at Melt this Saturday. Part of the Invisible Scratch Pickles, inventor of the 'crab scratch' and DMC world Champion for life, Qbert is one hip hop DJ you won't want to miss, supported by Simon Caldwell and Dr Zeus.

Date: Sat 13th May, 2006
Time: 10:00 pm
Venue: Melt Bar Level 3, 12 Kellett St Kings Cross
City: Sydney
Cost: $20

OK peeps. The opportunity came up for Q-bert to play a sideshow before he goes home.
The Club Melt only holds about 180 people so this event will be intimate and will have a few Djs doing some very interesting sets. With routines from Digits, Broke and Speedracer. Will Styles is going to play his famous quickmix half hour set. The Scratchersize Djs will be doing their thing and Flux-3, TheRev and Dr Seusswill finish up with a nice mix of a cheese and cuts at the end. Ok Suess will not be so cheesy.

When will you be able to see Q-bert in this environment again??

The Bamboos: Sunday 11 June, Sydney

Niche Presents - The Bamboos "Step It up" Album Launch Party

Fresh from the sellout show with Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings, Niche returns to the Basement for the annual Queens B‚day long weekend bash Featuring the Super-heavy, Raw and Upfront drum-break driven grooves of The Bamboos for one night of Deep-Funk madness!

The Bamboos step up the funk with an original twist. Bringing the noise in the form of screaming Hammond organ, chicken-scratch guitar, thumping bass and blaring horns. Add to this the baddest throwdown of extended drum breaks in the southern hemisphere and you‚ve got yourself a recipe for dancefloor mayhem!

Making their home at Tru Thoughts Records in 2005 (Gilles Peterson's Worldwide Label of The Year and home to Quantic and Alice Russell) The Bamboos debut album 'Step it Up'‚ has been released jointly by Tru Thoughts in U.K/Europe and Ubiquity Records in USA. With guest appearances from U.K soul diva Alice Russell the ŒStep it Up‚ LP has been garnering praise form the likes of Gilles Peterson, Mad Mats, Quantic and Mr Scruff.

Launching their debut long-player ŒStep it Up‚ in Sydney before embarking on a U.K/European Tour in June/July, The Bamboos will be taking their brand of Antipodean Funk to the world! As the integral backbone to the QSO and Alice Russell Australian tours of 2005 and 2004, this is your chance to catch the boys in the spotlight, and is one show you do not want to miss

Supporting The Bamboos is a stellar local DJ lineup over two rooms - expect an eclectic night of Deep Funk, Soul, Future Jazz, Hip Hop & Deep leftfield house.
